Re: Strange Network Issues - Help!?
Route table looks normal. What router are you using? Some routers don't like it when you allocate a static IP in its DHCP range. Get on your router's configuration web page and note the range. Change the BCS IP to something out of that range (My DHCP range is 192.168.1.100+, so my PC is *.100(DHCP) ...

Re: Control motor speed?
I did calculations based on a 5500w element and got similar results, 17 minutes (math at the bottom). Since the water is directly heated in a small insulated vessel, efficiency should be high. Hopefully, the only significant loss would be the heat absorbtion of the mash tun which is compensated for ...

Control motor speed?
I'm leaning towards ditching the HLT entirely. The plan is to use a RIMS style electric heater as an inline tankless heater which will supply strike and sparge water at the desired temperature automatically. One possibility is to control the flow manually via ball valve and have the electric element...

Electric HERMS State Flow Charts
I think I have the state theory worked. A brief outline of the design is on HBT. http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/electric-herms-design-126772/ I had to separate the mash & boil processes since there's an 8 state limit. A couple of things concern me. In process0/state0, if the MLT pump fails or b...

Can I switch SSR output to different elements?
In the process of designing my electric brew system and I just ordered a BCS-460. I've been reading about some diy brew systems and I commonly see seperate SSRs for the HLT and boiler elements. Is it feasible to use a DTDP relay/contactor to route a single SSR output? If thest $15 40A ssr's on ebay ...
