Re: Thinking of getting a Jacketed Fermenter
I don't suggest using a glycol reservoir in the freezer. The problem with that is that if you need to move the fermenter temperature a large amount for initial cooling, the glycol will raise in temp very fast and will take a considerable amount of time to recover. Being in the freezer, your glycol ...

Re: 1st time wiring
Do you have anything on the hot side of the SSR to pull a load (like plug in a light)? If you are just testing the SSR attached to the BCS with nothing on the other side, you will see sporadic results. The SSR's need a load on them to operate properly.

Re: Controlling heating elements
It's going to be different for everyone, but here is an example of one state (Saccrification Rest) from one process (Mash) from my system (BCS-462 / 4.0 beta 2) for maintaining mash temps. I'm using burners, not elements, so in my case I have an SSR that controls a solenoid. It translates pretty eas...

Re: Controlling heating elements
I'm sure others will chime in here, but you wouldn’t need to use ladder logic to control the element. With the BCS you can do that with simple processes and states. The BCS has 8 processes you can setup, each with 8 states. Within each state, you choose which outputs you want to control and you can ...

Re: 4.0 Public Beta Issues
Could you provide a use case where this would be valuable? Actually, I have wondered about this before. I have a temp probe and a float switch in my boil kettle. It would be nice to have the temp be at boiling AND the float switch activated before it kicks off the boil timer. The way it works for m...

Re: Auto Ignition
I am trying to set up my High Pressure Propane burners to be under the BCS control. Standard Heating valves are WC 11", where I use 10-30 PSI Regulators (Bayou Classic 30 psi adjustable). I would assume that I need a 24 vdc gas valve, an ignitor source (Like a Hot Plate Ignitor). Has anyone do...

Re: 4.0 Public Beta Issues
What browser are you using? It should just prompt you and you can just save the .json file anywhere you like.PTODD wrote:First, let me say that 4.0 is AWESOME!
When using the new 4.0 Backup/Restore utility, how would I choose a "path" to save the backup file to on a MAC?
Thanks!

Re: Glitch in Celsius Mode
There was a 3.7.1 firmware update that addressed some Celsius issues with the LED displays. I'd probably check into that first.

Re: BCS to pump wiring
When I wired up my panel I did a little write-up and posted it at http://cockalebrewery.blogspot.com/2009 ... alive.html. I used outlets as well, so maybe it will help.
