Re: HowTo: Voice control of BCS with Amazon Alexa
Got the dynamic DNS rolling and slapping a cron job on my RaspberryPi to keep it updated. I found these links that detail the difference between payload v2 and v3. I may give it a go in the next couple of weeks. https://developer.amazon.com/docs/smarthome/smart-home-skill-migration-guide.html#migrat...

Re: HowTo: Voice control of BCS with Amazon Alexa
I somehow figured it out. In my Alexa Skill I had it set Payload version = v3 per Amazon's recommendation as v2 is deprecated (screen shot below). I changed it to v2 and everything worked fine. I went back into the Lambda JS and changed the following: The value for payloadVersion to 3 on lines 123, ...

Re: HowTo: Voice control of BCS with Amazon Alexa
Ok. I sent a message to oakbarn since I was using his guide, but I’ll toss it out here for public view, too. My Lambda works fine when I test it. The things I’ve changed thus far are my IP address and port. I cannot however seem to get past discovery. The UI and user flow is a bit different now than...

Re: UI Not Rendering on iPad
Yeah it sucks. It and the subscription models that are everywhere.
When you say "the newer updated browser that is with the OS" are you referring to the BCS software? Because nothing has changed on the iPad for over 2 years.

Re: UI Not Rendering on iPad
Yeah I used mine primarily for the BCC, Tilt Hydrometers, and to stream Apple Music. The latter two still work fine and the BCS did until 4.1.2. iOS hasn’t seen an update since 2016, so it is definitely something between 4.0.0 and 4.1.2. I was hoping someone had an idea for a quick fix so I don’t ha...

UI Not Rendering on iPad
I have an old iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5 for my BCS-460. It worked fine when I was running 4.0.0. But I recently upgraded to 4.1.2 and now some of the UI loads, but most does not and it is unusable (image below - thanks phpbb for the flipped image - this should be properly oriented ). This happens wit...

Re: Howto: Calibrate Temperature Probes
Are there instructions about how to use bbrally’s tool? I can’t seem to find them. I haven’t used my BCS much in about four years in favor of a Zymatic, but I’m getting back into it and it seems my probes are about 7 degrees off at freezing and about 5 at 117. Not sure what’s going on.

Re: Trying to direct connect to a Macbook with no luck
I was able to direct connect using a crossover cable and an app similar to LanScan. But I only did that because I was having issues updating the firmware. Going through a router is my preferred choice.

Re: BCS 4.0 Public Beta 2
On 3.x, you have to power cycle the BCS after the update. On 4.x, it will reset and come back up on its own. It is best to monitor the tranfer from the TFTP server side. e.g. watch it tranfer the total bytes or see if it has a progress bar for the transfer. The update transfer usually takes less th...

Re: BCS 4.0 Public Beta 2
Oh. And the migration tool worked perfectly for me in the newest version of Safari on OS X 10.10.2 (though it might be nice to update the UI to indicate that the migration is finished rather than relying solely on a progress bar).
