Re: BCS temp overshoot in manual mode
Thanks for the response. Check that the temperature probe association is correct for the output that you are trying to control. It sounds like the BCS thinks the temp that its controlling is only 148, but its actually much higher? I thought this as well, one of the wires coming from the probe got a ...

BCS temp overshoot in manual mode
I am very frustrated. I have brewed with the BCS setup 5 times now and it has worked pretty well. Today, I set everything up, mixed up the water from distilled for both mash and sparge, measured and added salts, brought the water up to temperature and doughed in. I am still using the BCS in manual m...

Source for connectors?
I have brewed once with my new setup and love it (and learned a few things). I now would like to find some "quick disconnect" 2 wire connectors so I can easily plug and unplug the temp probes a few inches from the pot. My goal is to be able to disconnect the wire while leaving the probe in...

low pressure vs high pressure
I have a VR8300A3500 connected to a BG10 burner. I am using propane. I found that the BG10 needs an orifice to get a proper blue flame. I have only been able to test with a turkey fryer hose and not with the VR8300A3500. I have tested with the honeywell valve and it works but I get a orange sooty fl...

Re: Relays won't stop passing power
OK - I just plugged in a lamp to each pump outlet and it worked as it should. Learn something new every day! Now I know that volt meters and SSRs do not give honest answers.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Relays won't stop passing power
I have been trying to finish up my controller and it is having a perplexing problem. I have a bcs 460, 4 temp probes, 5 ssrs controlling HLT honeywell valve, MLT honeywell valve, three 115v pumps. I have it all connected now and no matter what I do, all of the SSRs are passing power to the device as...

Re: Can't find sample wiring diagram
Is it common to have the wiring terminate in plugs at the side of the box? I'm thinking of the 24v wiring from the gas valves. I probably use the hubble twist lock for the pumps. It seems that I would only have AC power to the box (through the GFCI extension cord), network (if I don't do wifi), 3 pu...

Re: Can't find sample wiring diagram
OK - so this is starting to look like a plate of spaghetti but I think it's going to work. Any other things I should change? Any tips on where to get a box for this? I was thinking Ebay.

Re: Can't find sample wiring diagram
It makes a lot more sense now. I checked and you are correct - the 24v valves are ac and so are the transformers even thought the output has only two wires. I don't see anywhere on the transformer or the box they came in marked DC. It appears that the SSRs can switch 24V. So yes - I just saved a bun...

Re: Can't find sample wiring diagram
Thanks for the responses. Over the weekend I created a drawing in visio to lay things out at least electrically. I've attached it and hopefully it makes sense. I bought the 25 amp relays from the ECC website along with 24 v DC tansformers (White Rodgers 90-t40f3). A few questions: Do I need a heat s...
