Re: Problem w/ Temp gauge on ECC

One more note to help trouble shoot. If I move the green insert around gently with my hands, the temp gauges alter. For example, it will looked fixed, then two dials will read a temp, then 3 dials. When I took the green plugs out it looks like some of the plastic that guides it into place is missing...

Re: Problem w/ Temp gauge on ECC

The problem is back, urgh. Please help. I went to brew today, first time since fixing the problem, and its back again. I blasted the BCS with air again and again. Problem solved, a few minutes later its reading 2 temp probe readings when I again only have one probe. I followed the trouble shooting g...

Re: Problem w/ Temp gauge on ECC

Thank you for the help debugging this problem. The solution that worked was un-wiring everything, removing the green boxes, and blowing air through them. Based upon your assessment that would likely suggest something around temp0 that was shorting the inputs. When I moved the temp probe wiring to Te...

Re: Problem w/ Temp gauge on ECC

The Firmware would be whatever was provided when the ECC purchased back in March '09; I've not installed any updates. The temp settings said default, but I will re-check.

Problem w/ Temp gauge on ECC

This past Saturday I encountered my first problem using the ECC device. Please help me trouble shoot it. Problem: - I have only 1 temp gauge connected to my ECC, however I obtained readings for both Temp0 and Temp1. How is this possible? - I proceeded to brew and paid mind to Temp0 the one that is w...

Re: Mash temp is higher than temp leaving heat exchanger?

I ran a test comparing the analog temp gauge in the mash tun and the digital temp probe from the BCS, monitoring the difference every 10 degrees in water. (the probes were right next to each other) At 100 degrees they started to deviate a 1/2 degree, 1 degree at 110, 2.5 degrees between 120 and 142,...

Re: Mash temp is higher than temp leaving heat exchanger?

The temp probes are definitely not reversed as I only have 1 probe connected to the BCS, that is the one at the heat exchanger out. The other probe is a analog probe within my mash tun. I calibrated the analog probe to the one connected to the BCS. The mash tun is a 25 gallon stainless pot from nort...

Mash temp is higher than temp leaving heat exchanger?

I've now brewed 2 batches using the BCS controller to manage the temp of the wort leaving my heat exchanger. It is generating spot on temps, within 1 degree when using the PID around a set point like 150! I am having one issue, the temp in the mash itself is running about 2.5 degrees higher than tha...

wiring a relay

Hello, Connecting the BCS will be my first opportunity to wire a relay. Would any of you have a diagram or simple explanation as to how I would go about... wiring the rely to a heating element and then to the BSC? Where in the line does the rely get placed? What gauge wire should I use? The element ...

Re: Crydom SSRs. D2425

Thank you everyone, I also wrote the Crydom sale rep and he confirmed I should use the D2425 and with a HS-2 heatsink.

Thanks again, now its time to get this new device up and running, can't wait.
