Re: BCS-482 Specifications (replacement for BCS-460/462)

The bottom terminals do not have a snug fit to them no matter how much you push them in. They come out easily. The top terminals are very snug and do not move. All four of mytermnal blocks fall out on thir own with not much more than a slight breeze. I don't see anything that I can adjust or tighte...

Re: BCS-482 Specifications (replacement for BCS-460/462)

I'm working up the schematic to incorporate the BCS-482 into my control panel design, and I'm looking at the photo provided. I see TWO 12VDC IN terminals and no unswitched 12VDC OUT terminal. Is that an error?

Re: BCS-482 Specifications (replacement for BCS-460/462)

I have the same 22mm buzzer/alarm (AD16-22SM) that Kal calls out in his "The Electric Brewery" build, though he uses PIDs instead of the BCS. It's then wired into the control cabinet much as depicted in Electric Brewing Supply's Wiring Guide Book (I added the ability to manually test it, s...

Re: BCS-482 Specifications (replacement for BCS-460/462)

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like I'll still need a 12VDC transformer to drive the BCS-482 (in the absence of a dedicated wall wort like the BCS-462 had), but I won't need a 12VDC transformer to feed 12VDC through the load side of a larger 8-channel relay board - I'm assuming I can now dri...

Re: BCS-482 Specifications (replacement for BCS-460/462)

As did I!! Already salivating as I await its delivery... oh, and as well, I'm redesigning my wiring schematic this weekend to take advantage of the new 12VDC capabilities, eliminating the five relays that I was going to use to drive motorized 12VDC valves, as well as the 12VDC transformer!

Re: BCS-482 Specifications (replacement for BCS-460/462)

Boy, in addition to the integrated temp controller, it would sure be nice to have an integrated pH controller as well (with BNC and ATC inputs), so I could set an alarm when I hit a pH of more than 5.8 during sparging, and then turn off the HLT and Mash Tun motors to avoid extracting tannins into my...

Re: BCS-462 wiring for relay and ball valves

Tim,

Did you ever get your wiring figured out? I'm in the same predicament, trying to figure out how to get the BCS-462 to work the valves. Any back-of-the-napkin sketches would be VERY much appreciated ;)

Re: Mini-ITX MB incorporated into BCS Control Panel

Good idea... However I'm rebuilding my breast and based on what I learned from the first one, and space for a control panel is a consideration, vice space for a monitor only. But I am leaning towards dispensing with many of the switches as well. I would still like to be able to run the pumps and the...

Re: Mini-ITX MB incorporated into BCS Control Panel

Just to add to my last post... I'm likely going to pull the plug on keeping the Omegas integrated into the system because I started having difficulties in getting the temperature probes wired in. The BCS-462 uses 10K thermistors, while the Omegas use 3-wire RTDs. The original intent was to have the ...

Re: Mini-ITX MB incorporated into BCS Control Panel

I guess my desire to use the Omegas stems from 1) I have a dozen of them in a box, 2) they were part of my original design and I hate admitting defeat, and 3 I'm comfortable in using them. Combine that with my lack of experience with the BCS, and you might see my attachment. I haven't developed the ...
