Re: lightning strike - hardware upgrade question
another question - the 482 is 12v dc. I'm only switching pumps and gas valves with the 5v on the 462. should I be worried about increasing the signal voltage to 12v? My relays are 12v dc input rated, with 1.1mA draw when on, and I think 30mA max (if I'm reading the sheet correctly)

lightning strike - hardware upgrade question
I haven't been around since 2014 when I built my brewery with a bcs-462. All has been well until a tree in my yard was struck by lightning last summer, 20 yards from my house. The EMP killed most all my wired network interfaces - switch was blitzed and the Ethernet ports of all it was connected to a...

Holy wow! *(^^()&*#$*)(&*#$(&* I love those guys! I have always had good dealings with them. This explains why tech@embeddedcc.com doesn't respond.

Re: 7-Segment displays quit working suddenly
My google-fu concludedes they don't want to be called, as does their "Contact Page".
I am willing to be wrong if anyone from ECC or otherwise wouldn't mind posting the phone number.- Thu Sep 25, 2014 10:48 am

Re: 7-Segment displays quit working suddenly
I can't get the arduino to receive anything from the bcs. However, i am not comfortable that the arduino code is doing what I want it to. Anyone know how to get arduino to dump everything it "hears" on i2c? Nonetheless, when the BCS is connected properly the debug light on the dispalys fla...

Re: 7-Segment displays quit working suddenly
Below is the code (found with my excellent google-fu) I have used to send data to the displays from the arduino. change the line #define DISPLAY_ADDRESS1 0x2A to check the others. /* 11-2-2012 Spark Fun Electronics Nathan Seidle This code is public domain but you buy me a beer if you use this and we...

Re: 7-Segment displays quit working suddenly
I am using an arduino uno to troubleshoot. First, I used my multimeter to verify the voltages/wiring for 12v power, as well as the ground terminal on the RS485 terminal block (see my first pic in previous post for my wiring, which was proven to work just fine before things kapooted). Below is the co...

Re: 7-Segment displays quit working suddenly
none of them work either way. I haven't had a chance to get the arduino up and running to test all of it. Hoping I get the chance this weekend. I recall a year ago when i first built the system that just one of the displays pooped out. All the others worked, and were still in warranty, so I sent the...
