Re: First Pass at Program - Would Appreciate Reviews and Advice
Thanks Oakbarn. I appreciate your taking the time to review my initial attempt at programming and for your suggestions. Brundog also helped me quite a bit and I've made a few changes. Namely using Direct On for my HLT and BK elements during initial heating states rather than PID. "Why not just ...

Re: First Pass at Program - Would Appreciate Reviews and Advice
Thanks Jon. I changed back up file extension from .json to .txt Hope that helps. In any case, any help and feedback is welcome. I reset display from "when running" to "always on". I'll give that a try on my first brew day. Also, in the Process Editor, under "Output Control (...

First Pass at Program - Would Appreciate Reviews and Advice
After quite a long time of planning and fabricating I can finally see the light at the end of the brewery tunnel. I've gotten around to completing my first pass of programming the BCS 462. Attached is a spreadsheet overview of my processes and states. I found this to be the best way for me to keep e...

Re: Also Having Trouble Connecting
The default username is admin, password is control. Thanks! Did the trick. I unchecked "require authentication" for now. Risk of a vendor messing with the BCS is small enough to not risk the hassle of getting locked out. Just curious, though, where is the reset button on the 462? Is there...

Re: Also Having Trouble Connecting
More than likely your BCS is fine and you just have some networking issue. There are lights on the ethernet adapter on the BCS. Are these flashing when it's on? What are you connecting the BCS to? Assuming it's a router and the PC is connected to the same router, have you checked the router's inter...

It's alive. All's well. Helps to connect to correct router.
Thanks for quick response.

Re: Also Having Trouble Connecting
First time attempting to connect to the BCS 462 but it appears to be DOA. I tried the finder utility with no luck on multiple devises from my network and router. I double checked the Ethernet cord and verified it is good. I just attempted direct connection to the unit with my laptop using http://169...

Re: BCS and POE
The BCS does not have POE and there is no 24V bus. It only gets power from the provided power adapter. Going to see if I can re-wire the onboard BCS power to external. Plan to install a pin connector in the bottom of the enclosure and then connect to external 110/120v AC/DC adapter. Just want to co...

Re: splicing BCS Temp Probes
Thanks Jon.
I'll have to take a closer look. I purchased the custom panel from ebrewsupply. I'm fairly confident they grounded the BCS to the main earth ground (ie not just enclosure).
The XLR connectors have a jumper from Pin 2 to Pin 3.

splicing BCS Temp Probes
I had to add about 4 ft of cable (22 AWG) to two of the temp probes. I twisted the wires in parallel and soldered the union of each splice. Exposed wires were then covered with shrink tubing.
Will there be any detrimental affect to performance of the probes? Guessing I will have to re-calibrate.
