PID control of mash temp

A question about using PID control of an HLT element from my mash tun output temperature probe in my electric HERMS. Currently, the way I’m getting reasonable control of my mash temperature is to set the HLT PID at 1.5C above my requirement using the HLT temp probe rather than the mash tun probe. So...

Recipe utility issues

I'm still having the same problems I'd reported earlier this year (during the 4.0 beta) in using the recipe utility with decimal points. Is this an issue anyone else is experiencing? To reiterate, after setting up and saving the variables, the recipe values tab shows the correct values that have bee...

Re: BCS 4.0.0 firmware released

Congrats on the new release. Really nice piece of work! A few grumps still.... so am wondering if you have a bucket topic to collect these to address and/or consider for future releases??? First, ref my earlier posting (http://forum.embeddedcc.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2715) A further hard to exp...

Re: BCS-462 wiring for relay and ball valves

Interesting post about the proportional valves and your suggestions seems sensible. Ref: FYI - this setup is used to restrict the flow of recirculating flow of cooling water via a centrifugal pump and has zero issues... I just wish it was integrated into the BCS so I could change temp setpoints auto...

Re: BCS-462 wiring for relay and ball valves

Just to be clear (for others who come across this), this may be working fine for you, but is not a configuration that many have had success with. Being that the pumps are a centrifugal type head and somewhat slow speed, your range of adjustment is going to be very small and definitely not linear. A...

Re: Comments on BCS 4.0 public beta 3

Oh, and my other point about Celcius figures being truncated in the recipe facility remains an issue for me, to the extent that I can't use it to update a range of Celcius values with decimal points - e.g. 66.8C for my Mash-temp.... A further hard to explain issue is that under certain circumstances...

Re: Comments on BCS 4.0 public beta 3

2. Not sure if this is the same issue reported or not. Can you post pics and more details please. Not sure if this helps, but I was able to repeat this error during one recent session, but then not on another, so not sure what's going on. However, it might be a bug worth checking out. First image (...

Re: BCS-462 wiring for relay and ball valves

Yes, JonW has already addressed most of the questions raised. However, you can (surely!) use duty cycle to control *pumps*...I have 3 Chuggers all of which are controlled by duty cycle at different stages of my brew processes. For example, using duty cycle gives me an adequate level of fine tuning f...

Re: Comments on BCS 4.0 public beta 3

Thanks for this. Some more detail on my point 8 in first post. And incidentally, I wasn’t able to repeat issue 2 (exit condition editing problems), although it has definitely occurred from time to time over the last few weeks – I’ve always worked around by fiddling the drop downs (someone else menti...

Comments on BCS 4.0 public beta 3

I’ve been enjoying 4.0 beta 3 for a few weeks during the commissioning of my new-build electric HERMS. This has a BCS-462 running a semi-automated three-keg system (3 Chuggers, HLT and BK heating and several 12 volt ball and solenoid valves; I have 4 floats controlling levels for 5 and 10 gallon bat...
