Re: BCS-460 only 1 volt?
Nice looking setup! The BCS outputs are limited to 20ma at 5V Discrete Outputs (Outs) Discrete Outputs are rated at 5VDC up to 20mA each . ... Mechanical Relays Mechanical relays are used extensively in automation. They are not typically recommended for applications that can switch excessively, such...

Both. The BCS ground, display ground, and 12v power supply ground should be connected.

Re: E-stop!
To your original question, you won't have any issues if the BCS is controlling relays have the 110V cut. That is fine, in fact standard operating procedure in some systems. Secondly, if you want to have the e-stop feed back in to the BCS as you describe, I don't see any issues with that either. Just...

Re: Incorrect hysteresis?
I agree, that doesn't make any sense. For heating, a setpoint of 38 with a 1deg hyst range (37-38), this means that the output will be ON until it hits 38 and then turn off, and when the temp then drops below 37 it will turn on again. Similarly for cooling with a setpoint of 38 with a 1deg hyst rang...

Re: Commercial Brewery Monitoring
This feature is on the list of future enhancements, but it isn't currently supported. There has been a lot of interest in this feature, so we'll do our best to get it into a future firmware update. But there is currently no ETA.

Re: What thermowell fits a BCS-460 temperature probe
I believe that Ranco and Johnson probes are both 0.25" in diameter, same as our probes. Most standard thermowells are 0.26 - 0.29" to give a little headroom. Not sure what the tolerances are on the probes, if its too tight you might have to sand down then end a little. You'll also have to ...

Congrats on a beautiful build. The L shaped stand is truly innovative! Can we see some shots of the control panel guts? Also, would you mind sharing your HMI image?

Re: Test Drive a BCS-460
Sorry about that. Somebody must have messed with the network settings again on the demo 460, and unfortunately I don't have access to it during the holiday weekend.
However, I am able to offer up a demo 462 in the meantime. Please visit http://ecc.webhop.org:8083

Re: Loop within a loop.
Hi Charlie. Anything using a timers is best implemented as a Process. You should be able to implement your function in a two state process. One or both of the states can control the temperature of the heat exchanger. I would recommend setting it up something like this: Process0: Vourlauf State0: Vou...
