Re: Stainless Steel Float Switch
To make a safety shutoff, the best way is to setup an exit condition to "Proc Off" in any state that you're controlling the element. So if your heating element is on, and the Din detects no liquid, it will immediately disable the process, and all outputs controlled by it. This is a great ...

Re: Stainless Steel Float Switch
I posted this on HBT a while back, another (more expensive) option that I ran across on the web, haven't tried myself: Check these out: http://www.onlinecomponents.com/productfiles/photos/thumbs/7093_DB8F-D5A2-5A4951394DCDC659.jpg http://sensing.honeywell.com/index.cfm/ci_id/140802/la_id/1/document...

SSR heat
How warm do the SSR's get? I have 2 20 amp SSR's that did not come with a heatsink so I mounted them to an aluminum plate I had. I am only running 12.5 Amps through them so I am just over 50% of thier capacity. During a test where I let things run for a bit, I didn't notice them getting all that war...

Re: Stainless Steel Float Switch
I'm at work now and I am trying to remember how this would work if wired in as a switch. During the sparge I have both elements off and 2 pumps on. I'm thinking the pump moving water from the HLT to the mash should flow continuously and the pump moving the wort to the boil kettle should be controlle...

Re: Stainless Steel Float Switch
I ordered one just now. Most frustrating part of brewing is trying to balance the level of the mash tun. I'm going to add this into my system so once I set the flow rate in to the kettle, I will set the flow into the mash tun so that it is just barely faster to keep the pump from cycling to slow. Wo...

Re: Heat Exchanger Temperature Probe Placement
By this weekend I should be far enough along to take some pics. The box is wood right now but once I get everything set and tested I am going to have a box made out of diamond plate aluminum.datamike wrote:We need pics!

Re: Heat Exchanger Temperature Probe Placement
I'm on about revision 6 of my electric system. Let me give you a little history of my learning curve. I started with heating element in the mash tun = burned an element out and ruined the batch I moved to an element in a 1 gallon cooler with Love Control. The probe for the LOVE was at the mash outle...

Re: My Brew System Build
Your sketch should work, But if you use a cell phone charger on the BCS side of the SSR, you can get nicer lighted switches to switch the 5v and trigger the SSR. You'd power the switch with the cell phone charger and use the switch to trigger the SSR. This allows you to use much thinner wire also. L...

Re: Hot Box
I had initially used a 1 gallon cooler as my heat exchanger. I attached 2 disconnects to the lid, heating element came through the bottom. The pump would force water into the cooler, the heated water was forced out the other hole in the lid. While it worked it wasn't the best solution because I was ...

Re: Volume Sensors?
I haven't gotten this far with my system but I am assuming you are asking about fluid level. If that is the case McMaster car has many float switches that would work.
