Re: Brew Session Documented

Cool.

Nice. Love your heat exchanger in the cylindrical thermos.

I use a six pack rectangular cooler with two 120v heat elements.

Re: Mash temp is higher than temp leaving heat exchanger?

Good. Glad you tested it. I have really started to not trust all kinds of measuring devices( but not my trusty Refractometer, that I always trust). This brewing is a great lab experiment. We learn as we go and hopefully we remember what we learned. I do not always remember what I have learned and so...

Re: Here is my PID (work in progress)

One thing to keep in mind with the PID settings is that the integral coefficient can be very sensitive. If you have a problem with the loop basically working correctly, but not quite giving it enough "umph" to get to the set point... you can add a small amount to the integral coeff. The i...

Re: Mash temp is higher than temp leaving heat exchanger?

The temp probes are definitely not reversed as I only have 1 probe connected to the BCS, that is the one at the heat exchanger out. The other probe is a analog probe within my mash tun. I calibrated the analog probe to the one connected to the BCS. The mash tun is a 25 gallon stainless pot from nor...

Re: Firmware update on a Mac

I upgraded mine with a mac and TftpServer, I kinda messed myself up and had to do a few out of the ordinary things to finish it. FIrst thing you need to do is make a back up of your BCS. Do this under System Settings, near the bottom System Save is the area to click and save. When you are done do a ...

Re: Stainless Steel Float Switch

I would put it as a switch on the SSR for the pump low voltage side. Unless I'm missing something it should work. Great idea putting it upside down (if it will actuate the right way) to stop your elements from burning up due to no water.

Re: Stainless Steel Float Switch

Nice switch. I may have to pick one up. Not sure where I'd use it. Mashtun maybe, for sparge water.

Re: Hot Box

I tried out this hotbox last Saturday. I did a step Mash. It performed really well as did the BCS. I found that the box heated the wort to about two degrees more than what the temp in the mash was. I was worried about over temps occurring and found that this didn't occur. The wort and the hot water ...

Hot Box

I built this box that heats water for my heat exchanger. Noah (np0x) had built one with an old cooler. We talked about a more elegant way of doing one. We toyed with copper pipe but in the end I just wanted to get one built so I could use my system. I'd love to hear from other people about how they ...
