Re: Time averaged temperatures

I have grounded everything and isolated it all to the best of my abilities but even the minor jumps are annoying. This would easily be fixed with time averaged temps...super pedantic but hey, all you can do is ask?!

Time averaged temperatures

Afternoon! Due to the way I have set up for fermentation control system I need my temperatures to be very precise. A feature I would LOVE to see would be TIME AVERAGED TEMPERATURES . Something along the lines of a check box or two next to each temperature probe input where you can 'check' if you wou...

Re: BCS to pump wiring

That diagram looks much better now. Agree with Jon on the terminology and it is certainly a good idea to keep everything colour coded. If you use those terminal blocks with them all bridged then it is essentially a neutral link. Doesn't matter on the position (left/right), if you have the bridge alo...

Re: BCS to pump wiring

Hey Sean, Your diagram is slightly confusing, are those 'din rail terminals' terminal blocks or neutral links? Either way, it looks as if your SSR's are wired incorrectly. You should treat them as a switch on the positive line towards your pumps, so from the positive common inlet, through the SSR an...

Multiple alarms and levels

I'm wondering if it would be difficult to implement multiple alarms with different levels, just as you would see in a generic DCS (distributed control system). As a starting point I guess an alarm for each process, with say a HIGH and a LOW setting and then possibly an additional window that could b...

Re: RIM's element burning

Hey mate, I too was frustrated with my RIMS tube and ended up changing my system in a big way. No matter what I tried my element always burnt to some some degree or another. Even if I could have ever got it to work perfectly, a slight accident would cause it to burn so I gave up trying to make it 'w...

Re: Emergency Stop Programming

A proper E stop should really be hardwired in and not software based. For example, if you have it wired in through a DIN and a relay overheats and becomes stuck closed then killing the BCS won't do anything. I haven't wired up a dedicated E stop yet but its on the list...its a long list haha. If I h...

Re: RIM's element burning

As far as I can tell the tube is fully flooded and the element doesn't touch the walls so yeah, those two are not the problem. I was even contemplating purchasing a sight glass just so that I could see when it was burning. At the time I was using the PID for the control method. Do you think using Du...

Re: 8 Channel Relay help

Hey bud, This relay board should do the trick: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Eight-8-Relay-Module-Board-8051-PIC-Project-24V-/400274689510?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d323b0de6 I have a 16 channel 12V relay board from these guys and it works well. Have a look around their website, they have a f...

Re: Simple question about pilot lights and amperage

Parallel wiring allows the two 'parallel lines' to have different current, drawing only what each device needs. This way you can have tiny LED's indicating high current devices. Make sure they run the same voltage though.
