Re: E-stop!

I would prefer to have the E-Stop stop all High voltage leaving the box, but allow a couple non-e-stop circuits inside, specifically for the BCS power, wireless adapter, and for my 12v flashing strobe. Any issues with this? it has been 15 years since I worked on this stuff at caterpillar, but seem t...

Re: Panel almost done.. switches on side or front?

I put the switches on the front near the top... spaced the 22mm holes 2" apart got me two rows of 4, I marked and punched all 8, but only drilled three on the top for heat and 2 on the 2nd row for the pumps... this gets plenty of clearance for the switch contacts in the back.. I decided to do i...

Re: 3 Tier Build in Progress

Looking good, I can almost taste it too! oh, never mind, that is homebrew from a keg that is almost empty :-(

Is that 1x2 tubing? what gauge? did you make any official plans? I might want to plagiarize! that would look really nice in stainless....

Re: Auto Fill Hot Liquor Tank

sounds good, here are some things that come to mind.. if filling from house water, treatment of water would be done once for mash and once for sparge. If a larger vessel and gravity or pump were used, water treatment could be done once. (I was thinking a white food grade 30-50 gallon barrel mounted ...

my Brew Buddy app is possessed!

Brew Buddy toggles processes on and off continuously on my BCS-462.... I have the web interface up and when I start Brew Buddy, things get really wacky if I already have a process going or start a process with either the web ui or Brew Buddy. Brew Buddy apparently just keeps toggling processes on an...

Panel almost done.. switches on side or front?

I was looking at Budzu's panel http://www.embeddedcontrolconcepts.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=265&sid=ccf76cb786a2f7a9646a8c91d8a994bb . I have the same thing but not in stainless (I love me some stainless, but it was free...) I am about to put on the switches, 5 3-position ones from auto...

Re: BCS460 Fermentation Freezer Control Question

I think you will want to make sure you fasten and use heatsink compound to a 'smooth and unpainted' section of metal on the freezer, either textured or painted will not provide adequate capacity..

Re: BCS460 Fermentation Freezer Control Question

I do not see why you could not do that you want a small current in the control line, which says SSR You want a pretty decent current spike for compressor startup, for which I think a contactor would be best.. but.. I guess you could us SSR if you can sink heat properly, maybe connect a heatsink *thr...

Re: Pressure Switch that will work with the BSC 462

FYI - Saturated steam at a certain pressure is always at a certain temp for water... 8-10PSI is 235-239 degrees... you could use a temp input... here is a site with steam tables java app (and iPhone app) http://www.dofmaster.com/steam.html -hit clear, punch in absolute PSI (14.7 + gauge PSI) and the...
