BCS-460 Availability
First units are set to ship 12/18/08. The waiting list is about 3 weeks deep. So if you're already on it, you will be contacted soon. If not, I'd recommend getting on it (go to the Order Now page and follow the link, basically just send us an email). Until production ramps up, the waiting list is co...

Re: Vary the Duty Cycle of an output
Although the method posted above still works, we've added a new feature to allow outputs to be controlled with variable duty cycles in any state, as well as Manual Mode. This should free up states to be used elsewhere, and make it simpler to achieve the desired functionality. Now there are 4 ways an...

Howto: Calibrate Temperature Probes
BCS series temperature controllers use thermistor based temperature probes. Thermistors work by varying resistance according to temperature in a non-linear fashion. To ensure the highest accuracy, the controller utilizes the Steinhart-Hart thermistor equation to calculate temperature. For more infor...

Re: HLT Control with strike, mashout, sparge
Hi dak0415. Thanks for the question. The sequence that you are describing has 3 unique states, strike, mashout, and sparge. You mention that you'd use a lesser duty cycle to maintain temperature, but in this case I believe either PID or differential control would be better. The place where these con...

Howto: Update the Firmware of a BCS-460
The BCS-460 uses a process called TFTP to update its firmware via Ethernet. The steps for a typical update would be as follows: Download new image from ECC. Start a TFTP server on a computer residing on the same network as the BCS unit. Navigate to the Systems Settings page on the BCS-460, and click...

Vary the Duty Cycle of an output
--EDIT-- New Duty Cycle feature added, see below --EDIT-- This is an example of varying the Duty Cycle of an output. For instance, say that you have a heating element that you want to use to bring water to a boil. Due to the wattage of the element, 100% is too much. But through experimentation, you'...

BCS-460 Pricing
There have been a lot of questions about how much the BCS-460 is going to cost. Although final pricing hasn't been set, we can give you an estimate . It will be somewhere between $150 - $190. This could change as suppliers are finalized, but we definitely want to keep it under $200 so that it can be...
