glycol safety feature
I am finally back to building a glycol chiller and am working out how to add a float switch to disable the AC unit and pumps if the glycol level is too low. My first best answer was simple ladder logic, no float switch no power. The problem is this could lead to short cycling the AC and pumps since ...

Re: help getting email alarm to work?
One trick to consider is not using a relay. You can send the email to the MX host of the addressee domain. Perhaps that is too much code, but it avoids replay issues.

glycol temp for conical
I am working towards using a Brewers Hardware jacketed conical. What do you do to control the temperature? I have not finished a glycol chiller and it was suggested to use iced water for now. The jacket seems to hold a good bit of liquid. I am a bit concerned that when the wort temp drops the BCS wi...

Re: Start with #1
I do IT for a living and counting from zero is an annoyance to my ascetic scense of correctness too. :) The ugly truth, as Jon points out, is that when you have to work without much of an abstraction layer hiding the digital underpinnings of hardware it can get ugly fast mixing counting numbers with...

Re: Can't Update Firmware (Mac or PC)
If I were having this issue my next move would be to run wire shark and look to see what if anything the BCS and tftp server are saying to each other. That may require the help of your networking friends. If they are talking you might be able to tell more of what is wrong.

Firmware update improvements
Http get to download firmware instead of tftp.
Allow alternate file name or path (e.g. BCS371.bin or v371/bcs460.bin)

Re: Can't Update Firmware (Mac or PC)
Since the BCS's web interface is working they are likely on the same network. The symptoms seem most consistent with the BCS not actually getting the file. To test tftp enable/install a tftp client which may be easiest on the XP computer. This is a better test if you have the tftp server on one comp...

Re: Can't Update Firmware (Mac or PC)
Can you confirm that tftp is working? Have you tried a different version of the firmware?
