Frozen BCS 462

Any idea why a BCS462 might stop working/responding with outputs on?

It was supposed to be holding temperature via PID at 66c but it stopped responding and I couldn't connect to it with a browser. Examining the vessel the element output and pump output are still going and the liquor is boiling furiously not sitting at 66c.

This hasn't happened before and it seems to be working fine now after power cycling.

The only thing I've ever seen make a BCS freeze is electrical interference. In my case it was from electronic spark igniters. Most of the time it would just cause the BCS to reset, but I had seen some issues of freezing. Maybe check if you have any high voltage stuff that could cause interference or even check if you have low voltage and high voltage wiring running together.

I am working on some wiring and I had an Output (#8 On/Off) on a BCS 462 quit working. I powered the BCS off for a minute then plugged it back in and it "reset" itself. Anytime I have issues, I do a power cycle and that "cures" some ills.

#1 Rule in Computers(of which the BCS is one) to fix a problem:
Reboot

Most users never experience lockups or frozen outputs of this nature and most BCS units run for many months uninterrupted. If you are experiencing lockups or frozen outputs, I'd suspect some external influence that it causing it before looking at it as a pure BCS issue.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at, I know its more likely something external that caused it, I wondered if there were any well known suspects.

No electrical igniters in my system its all electric. I tried to keep the 220v wiring separate from the 5v control signals and away from the BCS and was pretty successful I think. The 220v outputs are about 4/5 inches away from form the BCS.

It hasn't happened again at least, maybe one of those odd random glitches. I'll let you know if it happens again.

Cheers for the suggestions guys! :D
