Backup Utility Issue

Post by dhempy »

Attempting to use the Backup utility without success. When I bring the utility up and enter the address (formatted http://111.222.333.444/ as per the gray suggestion, the page returns with the Admin/Password prompts. I've tried on IE, Firefox, and Chrome, I'm logged into this BCS, IP is verified via Finder and the fact I'm logged in, and there is no authentication (i.e. the Require Authentication box is unchecked). I'm wanting to upgrade FW from Firmware Version 4.0.0 build 464d00f to the latest. The Blue "Begin Backup" button never appears to be "clickable" (the cursor never changes when hovering over it). I also tried admin/control just for grins and turned Auth on and then back off. Same results ... cannot backup.

Any ideas?

Edit: Tried downloading the page and running local. Same results multiple browsers. Also tried with Auh ON and Off again. It would appear that the utility doesn't find the BCS.

if your Ip is
http://192.168.1.218

try http://192.168.1.218/

The Trailing "/" has been an issue for me for some odd reason. Try with and without. You can also enter the IP in The Recipe, Migrator or PID Tuner (Top of the Utilities). I have had this issue but have always been able to finally get it to work. Chrome is best.

Tried all different formats with the IP address (which is set as static in the BCS). I've tried 4 different PCs as well ... Win XP, 2 Win7 and a Win10 box. All do the same thing. I never see a Green Box and the utility always prompts for for UID/PWD even though Auth is off. I don't think the utility "sees" the BCS at all.

For other encountering this, the BCS admins were able to help me resolve this. Brent said to use this extension for Chrome to fix it: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... ljbi?hl=en

You need to remember to refresh any pages _AFTER_ you install this for it to work. (Thanks Jon!)

Remember to remove this extension after you're done.

All backed up, firmware updated, restored, and now re-backed up (without issues).

Just an addition to Dan's comments on using this utility - this appears to only be a problem with the initial 4.0.0 version of the firmware and the backup/restore/recipe utilities. The widely used 4.0.1 and later firmware do not have any issues that would require the Chrome plug-in.
