DIGI 16 - EOL or OoS?

So I am trying to buy a couple of the Digi 16 but appears they are not available on www.brewershardware.com, anyone have a status of if these are EOL or OoS (Out of Stock)

Well just got in touch with Brewers Hardware and the Digi 16 is EOL due to it really did not expand the ports as described... So will just need to buy another BCS to get the required... :(

That sucks. I had a cool idea to use one to communicate the current state to a companion arduino to perform supplementary functions like volume measurement and flow control. You could use 6 outputs to tell the arduino what the current state was. 6 bits represents 64 unique values, which covers all 8 states of the 8 processes. For example, you could use the arduino to measure how full the HLT it and send feedback to one of the BCS inputs to tell it when the desired amount of strike water was added, which would then trigger the BCS to move to the next state of heating the strike water.

I suppose you could still achieve this with an ethernet enabled device (RPI or arduino with ethernet sheild) to have it read the current state value from the API, but that would be a lot more complicated to setup and code than just monitoring 6 pins.

I can't see any way that you could create the logic inside the BCS process/states to code the output the way you are envisioning. States would need to be aware of what other states are doing to be able to code the binary output to the proper values. Interfacing via the API would be the best way to do it and it would have zero overhead on the BCS.

I only use the BCS for brew day control. Everything marches ahead in sequential order so there is only ever one process active at a time. Therefore there is only one output active at a time. If each state would set the 6 outputs to a unique value communicating what single current state is active.

I have a brand new one in a case I have never used. Purchased it thinking I would integrate it into my system, but never did. Let me know if you are still interested in one.
