I'm not concerned with bacteria any more than I would be with the numerous other contraptions we put wort through. I didn't specify because it was pertinent to my original question, but this would be for my boil anyways. Like I said, this is exactly was I am looking for. I realize it is an old thread, but I just wanted to know how he attached the compression fitting to the copper tubing.

Agreed - boil is of no real concern for harboring nasties.

The compression fitting was attached via the compression nut. That's what the compression fitting does - it compresses a sealing ring against the outer wall of the tubing. That fitting really contains 5 parts [nut - compression flange - compression fitting - compression flange - nut]. You slide the nut & flange onto the tubing, then insert the tubing end into the fitting, slide the flange & nut down to the fitting and tighten it to make a seal.

I see it now. I should've Googled the part number before posting. I thought it was a threaded fitting like the ones on Brewer's Hardware. Thanks!
