Wiring DIN's with a Digi16

Post by el_hombre »

When connecting a Digi16 a 5v wire is ran from the BCS 460 to the (non-powered) Digi16's 5v port. When wiring DIN's how should I get the 5v to the switches? Should I just run two wires out of the BCS's 5v port, one to the Digi16 and other to the terminal on the switch? Is there a concern of putting too many switches on the circuit and causing the voltage to drop too low? I don't plan on running any powered devices off the circuit (other than the Digi), but I would like to one day have up to 10 switches for manual vs. BCS controlled devices. Right now I am just going to have two momentary switches for E-Stop and state transition purposes.

You're fine running them all off the single 5V output. The DIN's use very little current to trigger and you'll likely only be triggering a few at a time anyways.
