Digital LCD Fan Tachometer Display
Digital LCD Fan Tachometer Display
I am setting up a fermenter chamber with a PWM fan(s) controlled by the BCS. PWM fans have a fourth pin for a tachometer signal. Does anyone know of a digital tach display that can accept the PWM fan output tach signal? Also, I assume that the BCS doesn't accept tach signals and that I would need a stand alone display.
Re: Digital LCD Fan Tachometer Display
I would assume that the Tach wire is just a pulse off a hall effect sensor. You would need a microprocessor. LCD and program to read it. You can go to "https://maker.pro/arduino/tutorial/how- ... th-arduino" to get an idea of using the Hall Effect sensor that is built in to the fan.
Re: Digital LCD Fan Tachometer Display
Thanks. I'm looking at the Arctic F14 PWM case fans. I was hoping the on-board fan processor could send a conditioned signal to a simple panel-mounted LED tach display via wire to the fan TACH harness pin. If i need a microprocessor, it doesn't seem worth the bother just to know the fan RPM

Re: Digital LCD Fan Tachometer Display
Cheap enough to try. Worse you can do is blow the meter and maybe the fan.
Along those lines, why are you using PWM fans? Normal Fans under BCS Hysteresis control may do the job you want them to do.

Re: Digital LCD Fan Tachometer Display
was thinking of allowing the fans to slow roll (min RPM) when not in use at 100%. I think PWM allows that if I'm understanding the concept correctly...
