I was wondering if one of those sprinkler control valves be used on cold, potable water to fill a HLT.
I would use a water level sensor to turn the transformer on or off via a SSR. My main concern is...
as long as the water is cold tap water. can I safely run it through one of those sprinkler system control valve? I cannot find
anything saying they should not be used with potable water.
TIA

water fill valve
Re: water fill valve
What's it made of? If you know the manufacturer, I'm sure that you could send them an email to find out quickly.
Here's another great source for cheap valves:

Re: water fill valve
yes the same kind of valves available at HD and lowes. nylon valve and body are only 13.99 brass valves with nylon plunger are like 20-24 bucks. I see no reason
why that cannot be used on potable water systems. I will look at manufacturers next time I am out.. names like Rainbird is one..
Thanks for the link!

Re: water fill valve
I have two of those and while not yet part of the brew stand / brewery have tested them and they work great.ECC wrote:What's it made of? If you know the manufacturer, I'm sure that you could send them an email to find out quickly.

The intention is to use them on Mash fill and mash out.
