It's the dual NIC setup causing the issues. You can't use your routers gateway address because your laptop is trying to send the traffic there.

Try this:

BCS:
IP Address: 192.168.1.101
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.100

Laptop:
IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.101

Alright, tried that and it still doesn't work. Not sure where to go from here. May have to run my ethernet cables from the office on the second floor, out the window to the backyard to brew this weekend  Prior to this update I could connect directly via Ethernet at the IP Address listed above, not sure why that is still not the case.

When you set the static IP on the BCS, did you uncheck the DHCP option at the same time? You have to do both, then reboot the BCS.

IP address issues are tough to figure out like this because your BCS is only one part of the equation. This is why I always suggest running the BCS off your router so everything is on the same network segment.
