After many months, our BCS 462 is on its way. I plan to log my Mash Tun temps and to control my HLT Herms burrner (high pessure 0-30- psi type) with a selenoid valve and the BCS, We will eventually add our fermentation freezer so I can do a diecytal rest from afar. I am excited to get started and will have many questions!
My first one:
What type of enclosure do you mount the BCS 462 in?

Re: Finally Ordered the BCS
The BCS itself is already in an enclosure, so you can mount it to the wall, cabinet, etc. If you want to put it inside a panel with relays, etc. then it's really up to what all you plan on doing with it. I use an alarm panel box enclosure for mine.
Re: Finally Ordered the BCS
Next Questions: I ordered some npt probes from Brewers Hardware. They came without a quick disconnect. I would like to add two pair of quick disconnects. I want to panel mount the BCS and have the Temperature Sensors with Panel Mounted QD on the panel and a QD on the sensor as I will remove them after every brew. I assume I can cut the sensor wire on the probe and make a 1 foot pigtail with A QD. I would then run a patch cable with QDs between the sensor pigtail and the Panel Mounted QD on the BCS Panel.
Since these are resistor type probes:
Is the use of any QD that is not made of the same material as the wire not a good idea?
Are you introducing a probable error with every QD? I could hard wire the Patch Cable to the BCS end and not affect my design much and get rid of one pair of QDs.
Aubrins has one http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... cts_id=119
Or these which I would prefer as I have some cables with ends already.

Should I be using the exact same wire or can I use this patch cable:

If you can reset the Coefficients of the probe with the different wiring and QDs, does is make a difference what wire is used.
As you can see, I do not quite understand the probes and effects of wiring. I have been using the Aubrins PIDS and am familiar with those QDs and they look good.
I read (a reread) the Wiki and see that a reasonable distance (20+ feet) will not matter, but I don’t know about different wire gauges or QDs.
