7 Segment Display (PID Module)

I remember reading a post about how "hot" the display got. I have purchased some enclosures some time ago that are Plastic boxes with an aluminum face plate ( about 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 by 1.5) Are the displays so hot that I should ditch these in favor of all metal?
