Raspberry Pi to control a Bcs-460

Post by sam.logan87 »

Hi Everyone,

Is anyone on here experienced with Raspberry Pi's. I have mounted a Pi and their new touch screen onto my control box so I can access the controller while at my rig in the garage. I have done this so I can start processes and make minor adjustments. I also want to be able to access the Bcs-460 from my home network via the wifi I have setup on the Pi. I do not have space in the control box for a switch etc so will be connecting directly from the Pi to the controller and then bridge the wifi and Ethernet connections.

Can anyone help as all I have managed to do so far is get the wifi working.

Kind Regards,

Sam Logan

Looks like it's very doable. Google found me these:

Just be advised that any problems using the BCS cannot be supported using this arrangement. You will need to use static IP's on everything to access the BCS as the finder likely will not work being routed over the bridge (it's UDP based).

Thanks for that. The top link works a treat. Just need to somehow work out how to access the Bcs from my home network as now all I can do is access it off the Pi.

Kind Regards,
Sam

My panel has a similar configuration. In my panel I run Ethernet direct to a 5 port switch in the control box. Then, hook the RPI and BCS to the switch for access to the network. With this setup, I can access the BCS from my home PC inside my home, with my phone, as well as the attached LCD screen on the control panel.
