Good afternoon, i have a question about the BCS 482, i am about to build a 3 vessel herms system with the 482 and have a question regarding relay boards, i am aware the 482 has 8 inbuilt 12v relays. An electrican friend of mine said to use a sdpt relay board additional tothe 482 that way if an external relay board gets damaged it is only a $25 outlay compared to $280 outlay....as it is only the 12v side of switching etc what are the chances of it getting damaged? Is this not necessary....
Kind regards
Brent

Re: Bcs 482
I intend to use a 12 vdc relay board rather than powering any Out with just the out itself. I have two 12 vdc power supplies. I will use on for the BCS 482 (Shipped Today!) and the other for any devices. Overkill for sure.

Re: Bcs 482
Just to clarify, the 482 does not have built in relays - it has 16 driver circuit outputs that can drive up to 150mA of current. That output can directly power a relay or it can directly power devices like ball valves. If you are running any 120VAC devices, then you definitely need relays.

Also need for 12 vdc device over 150 ma. Most computer fans are .2 a to .5 a so an external relay would be needed. 8 to 16 Relay boards are not much $
