Anybody use Avast?

I use Avast Free virus protection. I have noticed that my wireless connection to my BCS seems to have slow response. I also noticed that whenever I have my BCS page open in Firefox that the Avast "Ball" is always spinning. That is an indication that Avast is scanning and never stops while the BCS page is open. Close the page and the ball stops. Anybody else notice this? Any way to stop it?
