User vs Observer passwords...

Post by 1971hemicuda »

So, every time i try and set the passwords i end up getting locked into observer mode. I'm just trying to figure out the easiest way to get this setup

Do I?

Set the passwords first, then enable Authentication?
Enable Authentication and then set the passwords? (however, i believe i've tried this and i end up logging in with admin:control and get locked into observer mode)

Any help would be great!

Both ways should work. I'd recommend changing them first, and then enabling authentication.

What I suspect is that your browser is saving the Observer password. Both user/observer default to the same value, so if you enable authentication first, and then login with 'control', you'd be in User mode. But when you change the User password, the next page you access, your browser will still be using 'control', so now all of the sudden you're in Observer mode. If you restart your browser, you'll get a new popup password box, and enter the new password to access in User mode.
